This summer presented an opportunity for brides to be to visit our Axbridge field to select their own lavender stems for bridal bouquets, buttonholes and table decorations. Lavender & Co met a delegation of Chinese buyers at Wookey Hole in Somerset last week. The visit, organised by Visit Somerset and Visit Britain was part of a tour around key south west visitor attractions including the famous caves at Wookey Hole where they also met a group of Somerset producers in Jacks Cafe. Carole Hamblin, owner of Lavender & Co said, "We were delighted to meet the group and were pleased with their response to our products. We appreciate the work by Visit Somerset and Visit Britain for providing us with a unique opportunity to meet and showcase our business to the Chinese delegation during their visit to Somerset."
Since we opened the lavender field at Easter, we have welcomed many visitors from home and abroad who have enjoyed the field in its unique setting on the Mendip Hills. The shop will be open and the cafe will serve refreshments throughout the day. Carole and Baz would like to thank all their visitors, supporters, helpers and dear friends who have helped them this season and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2018.

A spell of fine and mostly dry weather from the end of June has enabled us to harvest the Axbridge lavender field. Bunches of lavender are now on sale in the shop at the field and Carole and Baz are busy distilling and blending the oil which we use in our product range. We grow 15 different varieties of lavender for culinary use or in our lotions and potions. Culinary lavender buds are best for use in food and drink, the subtle flavour is used to make Orchard Cut Gin for Thatchers Cider and our own Lavender Ice-cream by the award winning Granny Gothards.
The award winning Granny Gothards Ice Cream is now being served on our remaining summer open days. The lavender field is now in full and glorious bloom and there are wonderful views to sit and enjoy with a tub of ice-cream! We also have small shop, cafe, plants and freshly cut lavender to take home. Dogs on lead are welcome. Entry and free parking from 11am to 4pm. Find us on the Axbridge by Pass main A371 Cheddar Road. Our delicious Lavender Syrup was a hit at the Source Trade Show earlier this month. South west chef of the year Jamie Coleman demonstrated a delicious Lavender Duck using the syrup and our lavender flowers that are perfect for cooking. Quite a few visitors were keen to buy a bottle to take home! The syrup is great drizzled over fresh berries, icecream and in a glass of fizz. We will shortly be making this product available to purchase online.
